Gramacho Description

The Gramacho Golf Course near Carvoeiro in the Algarve was originally a nine hole course which has been extended and cleverly redesigned to become a fully fledged interesting 18 hole course. A formidable challenge to its designer! The course covers undulating terrain with olive, almond and carob trees scattered as planted years before by the local farmers. The Gramacho Course is designed for the player to be technically accurate and to know which club to choose before hitting the ball. Anything less will quickly increase his score.

Never played Gramacho before but what a pleasant surprise. The course was in good condition and we were paired with 2 guys from Essex who we had a good laugh with. Twilight round - managed to get round 16. Unfortunately too dark to play 17 & 18 which look great holes. Quite a quirky course and very undulating with a few blind shots. No 2 holes the same so an interesting round. Greens are slopey and quite tricky!
Good course spoiled by slow play.

Course was in good condition, although the pace of play was very slow. Course marshals did not not appear to be doing anything about exceptionally slow play. would not recommend a midday/later starting time.

Loved the course. Some testing holes. Marshall kindly informed us of slow groups in front. Pace wasn't an issue for us, as we were enjoying the day in the sun. Clubhouse staff were wonderful. We had a lovely meal there. We all definitely want to play there again.
