Very tight but manicured course, with greens in great condition and running true although not fast. Love the design, we played our front 9 from tee 19, with our back nine from tee 1, thoroughly enjoyed the game and with a buggy we got round in exactly 3 hours with no hold ups, which was much appreciated, as playing twilight golf we needed to return the buggy by 8pm and actually returned in by 7pm! Great clubhouse and friendly staff completed our experience. 5 stars

First thing to say is excellent friendly staff here! From golf reception to buggy master, all helpful and obliging. This is a course weve played many times but the design never fails to impress. Tight fairways require accurate tee shots but reward with pars or birdies. We always stay in Vilamoura so this course is on our doorstep, almost walking distance so very convenient. The greens were good if not exceptional, fairly quick but a little patchy in places. Much improvement work has obviously been done and is bringing this course back to its best. One of the origionally 3, you simply must play it if you get the opportunity and will not regret. We will be back.

What can I say about this course! Firstly the set up and facilities at Val do Lobo have to be experienced. As a single figure handicap golfer I have to say the design and condition of this course if first class, in fact its club class. Great design, many interesting holes with no two the same, and of course the excitement mounts as you reach 15 and face the ocean, knowing the next hole is the iconic 16th (known to be the most photographed hole in Europe) a tough par three over two ravines next to the ocean. This time I parred but needed 3 wood to get there, my son Jake (2 Hcp) put 4 iron to three feet and got the 2. Just a magnificent course which you feel privilege to play, and is a MUST for any serious golfer visiting the Algarve.

Played here many times now. Facilities and clubhouse are magnificent. Played the Pines and Corks this time, which are tight but very playable. Greens in excellent condition and running true. Some thought needed as you plot your way around the course. Some holes are very similar, which reduces the interest a little but overall there is sufficient variety. I love coming here, always the same welcome and satisfying round. Only issue was we were required to return buggies by 7.45pm, but a marshal came out just after 7.15 to remind us of this and that the sprinklers will shortly be turned on, which put off one of our players and he finished the last 2 holes very badly which adversly affected his round and final score. Shame, totally unnecessary and should have been avoided. Officials please note.
