Really enjoyed Vila Sol. Good course in good condition. Narrow with penal rough but scoreable provided you find the fairway and don’t get behind the encroaching trees. Far better than I was expecting. Good value.

Obviously a very good course and a treat to play on, but it was just a little rough round the edges - probably the aftermath of tough times caused by COVID. We weren’t exactly given the Rolls Royce treatment you might expect for the hefty green fee either . Front nine wasn’t bad at all but course was log jammed on the back nine. The experience wasn’t helped by a five ball in front (!) and a group behind who twice teed off before we had played our second shots, and each time a ball bounded beyond us. The member we were playing helpfully placed a call to the clubhouse and, for the first time, we saw a Course Marshall who sorted out the etiquette issues but not the painfully slow pace of play. By the time we finished, despite being on time for the front 9, we were more than 40 mins behind for the back. Waited a long time on virtually every shot… Maybe we should have avoided Saturday afternoon ???

Not bad for a knock around. Very short but fairways and greens in pretty decent condition.
